Materials

1,200g of Aran weight. I used 100% acrylic in a light grey with a soft and smooth texture 440g=660m

Flexible long Tunisian hook, 8mm

Pattern notes

Once established this is an easy stitch to make and an easy pattern to adjust according to size preferences. I have added a simple border that is perpendicular to and the reverse of the established stitch, which I think creates an attractive edge.

Special stitches

Tunisian alternating stitch

Pattern

Body

This is a staggered pattern repeating rows 1&2

1st row: *insert under first vertical bar ( first stitch ,edge) does not count as stitch), then under top horizontal bar above second vertical bar, draw up a loop*

Repeat *-* across.

Standard return ( return thru 1 stitch, return thru 2).

2nd row: Insert into the horizontal top bar, above the second vertical bar ( remember that 1st vertical bar edge) does not count as a stitch) draw up a loop, insert under next vertical bar, then under top horizontal bar of next vertical bar. Continue pattern across. Standard return.

Repeat until size is reached.

Edging

Starting on the wrong side of long edge of blanket. Pick up stitches across. Standard return.

For next five rows, make the Tunisian alternating stitch.

Next, repeat this 5-row process for adjacent short edge, then the adjacent long edge to finish with 5 rows on final short edge. Bind off.
