The Moroccan Bag
I used a very chunky yarn for this look. To make it more subtle, use two strands of mercerized cotton throughout and a smaller hook.
British
Intermediate. Familiarity with Tunisian crochet is helpful
Not essential as this is a bag, but using materials stated bag measures:
650g Hooked Ribbon XL in earth taupe
8mm double ended crochet hook
This bag is made up of 13 Tunisian granny squares 13x13 cm. You will use two balls at a time, one for forward pass and one for return pass
Tunisian alternating stitch
Insert hook under first vertical bar, then under the horizontal bar that sits on top of next vertical bar. Draw up a loop.

Position the 13 squares as indicated above, right side up. Using the tapestry needle, join the pieces in rows first, then add together, maintaining the shape. Join with right sides together using mattress stitch. So you will cut a long tail, and work from the inside out. So insert tapestry needle into piece furthest from you , from the middle and plt, then reinsert needle from the middle into piece closest to you. Continue across being very careful not to pull too tightly. You will need to join wool to your tail to complete the joining process for all pieces.
To make the handle you will create an I-chord with 4 loops.
Using the 5mm hook, draw up one loop on right edge of point of square, draw up two loops into corner and draw up one on left edge of point of rectangle. Begin to make the I-chord, following the steps below.
Step 1 Slip three loops off the hook, but ensure you hold their shape
Step2 Yarn over and gently pull it thru the first slipped stitch, yarn over, and pull thru 2nd slipped stitch, then the third, then the fourth.
Repeat step 1&2 until handle measures
55cm (or to suit)
Attach to the other side by slipst thru outer edge stitch of corner, two thru corner space and then last loop thru outer edge of square point. Bind off and weave in ends. Repeat entire process for second handle
