The Weekender Bag
British
Beginner friendly but familiarity with Tunisian crochet helpful.
Tension is less important as this is a bag, but using materials listed bag measures: each rectangle = 42cm long and 15 cm wide. Bag at widest point is 46cm X 40 cm at longest point.

Talt across. Making sure the edge stitch goes thru the front and back vertical bars for added stability. SR.
The Tunisian alternating stitch is a two row repeat. So this row you will begin by inserting into the horizontal bar above the first vertical bar ( excluding the edge stitch) and drawing up a loop. Then insert under second vertical bar, then under horizontal bar of next vertical bar, yoh, draw up a loop. Continue in pattern across.
Repeat row 2. Begin under vertical bar and Talt across. Making sure the edge stitch goes thru the front and back vertical bars for added stability. SR.
Repeat row 3. Continue with the two row repeat of rows 2 and 3 until finishing row 43. Bind off, following the alternating pattern across.
With right sides facing up, lay out the rectangles to form a pinwheel.
Using the 10 mm hook, Slst thru back loop of piece facing you and front loop of piece opposite, starting from the centre and working outwards, gently folding the piece to join. Complete all joins.
Dc around the entire bag, putting three dc in each exposed corner point.
To make the handle you will create an I-chord with 4 loops.
Using the 5mm hook, draw up one loop on right edge of point of rectangle, draw up two loops into 3rd dc space and draw up one on left edge of point of rectangle. Begin to make the I-chord.
Step 1 Slip three loops off the hook, but ensure you hold their shape
Step2 Yarn over and gently pull it thru the first slipped stitch, yarn over, and pull thru 2nd slipped stitch, then the third, then the fourth.
Repeat step 1&2 until handle measures
55cm (or to suit)
Attach to the other side by slipst thru outer edge stitch of corner, thru dc3 space and then last loop thru outer edge of rectangle point. Bind off and weave in ends. Repeat entire process for second handle
