Changing Colours

One of the delights of Tunisian crochet is the way colour can so easily change a pattern’s appearance- from solid blocks of one colour to rows that appear woven using two or more colours.

Whole-row

Complete your return pass in colour A until you have 2 loops left on your hook. Drop colour A behind and pull colour B thru the last two loops. Continue your forward pass in colour B and until you desire to change again.

Mid-row

With colour A Start beginning of stitch, but yarn over and pull thru with colour B. Continue as long as required.

On the return pass, continue with colour B for as long as there are TWO colour B loops on the hook. When you have 1 colour B and 1 colour A on the hook, drop colour B and continue the return pass with colour A.

Woven

rows

Complete forward pass in colour A, but Start your return pass chain 1,with colour B. Continue with colour B to end of row. Make a forward pass with colour B. Star your next return pass ch1 with colour A and continue To the end.

You can weave in your ends as you go, by alternating, tail over the hook before the stitch and then tail behind work for next stitch.

You can carry wool for later use using the same method.
