Increases/Decreases
Increases
Simply yarn over (yo) and continue with the stitch. The YO counts as the new stitch. This can be done at the beginning, middle or end of the row.
Note: be careful on the forward pass of the next row that you don’t miss the added stitch as it can appear tucked behind or at an angle.
Yarn over
Method
Chain Method
Chain 1 and then pull up a loop on edge vertical bar.
To add more stitches, chain as many as needed, then pull up loops in those chains AND the edge stitch, and continue with rest of row.
Right edge
Cast on Method
Left edge
Bend left hand fingers over wool. Put thumb over wool and pull back and up, twisting the wool at the same time to create a loop around the thumb.
Insert the hook under the strand closest to you and grab the strand opposite and pull up. Slide your thumb out of the loop. One stitch added.
2nd Hook Method
Left edge
Turn your work over. Move yarn to back of work. Using a second hook of near equal size, insert it into last loop on right , grab the yarn and pull thru loop. Now, go over the hook, grab the yarn and pull thru loop. First stitch made. Move yarn under original hook, towards the back. Grab the yarn with the hook and pull thru the loop. Repeat for as many stitches as are needed, minus one, remembering that you will put the loop on the second hook back onto the original hook, which will count as a stitch.
Horizontal Bar Method
Increase on left edge by inserting hook under top horizontal bar just before edge stitch and pulling up a loop, finish edge stitch as normal.
Decreases
Decreases
The easiest way is to simply skip a stitch
