What is Tunisian Crochet?

Tunisian crochet is a unique technique that combines elements of knitting and traditional crochet. Using a specialised hook with an elongated shaft, it creates fabrics with a distinctive woven appearance.

It involves picking up stitches in a forward pass and working them off the hook during a return pass, without turning your work.

To work projects in the round, like baskets or jumpers, two balls of wool and a double-ended hook are used to facilitate forward and return passes.
